2024 Smoke Wave Sea Flavor Elementary School
Protecting marine ecology, practicing sustainability from the coast to the table!
The Yanbo Group has held the island-wide marine protection action for three consecutive years. This year, it combined beach cleaning with fish consumption education, conveying the importance of choosing sustainable seafood ingredients to its employees, achieving the goal of sustainable daily living.
- A total of 141 colleagues and their families participated.
- Guarding approximately 3.8 kilometers of coastline.
- A total of 451 kilograms of marine waste was cleared.
In order to fulfill the commitment of the Yanbo Group to marine sustainability, this year we have promoted many sustainable ocean series activities in collaboration with the Taiwan Ocean Conservation and Sustainable Fisheries Foundation. The third year's "Circumnavigation to Protect the Ocean" corporate beach cleanup is themed "Yanbo Seafood Elementary School," combining beach cleanup actions with fish education, leading colleagues to protect the ocean together, from the dining table to the coastline, achieving the goal of sustainable daily living.

This year, a total of 141 colleagues and their families participated in the coastal protection action around the island, safeguarding approximately 3.8 kilometers of coastline and clearing 451 kilograms of marine waste. The amount of plastic bottles collected over the past three years is nearly equivalent to the height of two 85-story buildings!

The Nangang Bird Watching Area is a small but beautiful ecological secret, welcoming different migratory birds throughout the year, providing nature lovers with a rich bird-watching experience. Walking along the trail towards the beach, the famous scenic spot in Hsinchu—Xiangshan Sand Dunes—comes into view, with its magnificent natural scenery that captivates the heart.
On the day of the beach cleanup, the colleagues from Yambu Hsinchu District bravely faced the strong winds and took action to protect this beautiful scenery, allowing the unique beauty of Hsinchu to continue to flourish.

"We did beach cleaning here in our first year as well, and at that time the garbage stretched across the entire coastline. This year, there is significantly less trash, but we picked up a lot of fishing-related waste and plastic bottles, which I suspect fishermen casually throw into the ocean while out at sea. It's easy to throw away garbage, but it takes several times the manpower and effort to clean it up. I will start with myself and be a person who is friendly to nature!"

Beach cleanup results: removed 96.6 kilograms of marine waste.
TOP1: Fishing buoys / floats / fishing boat bumpers 221 pieces (including polystyrene, plastic, and other foam materials)
TOP2: 198 plastic bottles
TOP3: 114 plastic bottle caps
The Qixing Lake Blue Sky Square boasts a magnificent crescent bay and an excellent view of the Central Mountain Range, along with convenient parking and public facilities, making it a popular spot for tourists to stop and rest. However, along with the crowds, there is a significant amount of cigarette butts and trash left behind by visitors on the beach, casting a shadow over this beautiful coastline.
Through the beach cleanup action, we hope to raise more awareness among tourists about environmental protection, making Qixing Lake not only a symbol of beautiful scenery but also a destination for sustainable tourism.

"The types of marine waste found on this beach are different from those collected during the beach cleanups at Manbo Beach in the past two years. This may be due to the higher number of visitors at Qixing Lake, leading to cigarette butts scattered along the shore as tourists smoke everywhere. It seems we still need to strengthen environmental education!"

Beach cleanup results: Cleared 140.3 kilograms of marine waste.
TOP1: 524 cigarette butts
TOP2: 113 plastic bottles
TOP3: Food packaging bags 44 pieces
The Zhuangwei Sand Dune Ecological Park, located at the northeast corner of Taiwan, is a highly representative new international attraction in Yilan, featuring sand dune landscapes and rich ecological diversity. Crossing the windbreak forest leads to the beach, making many visitors reluctant to leave.
Even though it was raining on the day of the beach cleanup, the colleagues from the Yilan area of the Yanbo Group were still full of enthusiasm, gathering here to protect this treasure of nature, actively participating in ecological restoration and beach cleanup efforts.

"This is my third year participating in the coastal cleanup activity at Yanbo, and I didn't expect the amount of garbage on the beach to be far beyond my imagination. Even though the weather was bad, it was very touching to see everyone doing such a meaningful thing together!"

Beach cleanup results: Cleared 126.5 kilograms of marine waste.
TOP1: 358 plastic bottle caps
TOP2: 160 plastic bottles
TOP3: 82 plastic bags
The Guanshan Platform is famous for its magnificent sunset views. Every evening, golden rays of light spread across the sea, attracting countless tourists to gather and admire. However, behind this beautiful scenery lies the environmental challenges accumulated due to human activities.
The colleagues of Yambu Tainan Hotel carried out a beach cleanup along the coastline and the adjacent forest, cleaning up scattered large fishing waste, plastic garbage, and cigarette butts. Each time they bent down and each bag of trash accumulated not only brought cleanliness to this charming coastline but also allowed them to feel the responsibility and sense of accomplishment in protecting the environment.

"In this beach cleanup, in addition to picking up large pieces of styrofoam, there were also plenty of styrofoam fragments on the ground in the nearby forest. These fragments are actually a dangerous presence on the beach because their small size makes them more likely to be mistakenly ingested by marine life and birds! Additionally, the debris from abandoned oyster farms blown away by the typhoon has caused significant pollution on Tainan's beaches. I hope that the ICC data from this cleanup can draw the attention of relevant authorities to this issue."

Beach cleanup results: Cleared 87.6 kilograms of marine waste.
TOP1: 527 cigarette butts
TOP2: Fishing buoys / floats / fishing boat bumpers 221 pieces (including polystyrene, plastic, and other foam materials)
TOP3: 193 plastic bags
The Yanbo "Island-Wide Marine Protection" beach cleanup activity is not only aimed at improving the coastal environment, but this year, through a fish knowledge team competition (Team Building), it conveys the concept of choosing sustainable seafood ingredients in an entertaining way. It allows employees to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between marine ecology and sustainable fisheries, and through collaborative challenges, enhances their awareness of marine sustainability. In the future, they will not only consciously choose sustainable ingredients but also protect marine resources for the next generation. Yanbo Group hopes to instill the DNA of caring for the ocean into the blood of every Yanbo person.
